Saki Takeuchi   -   Vintage kimono collage artist from Japan.

She grew up in a family with strong ties to kimono. Her grandmother used to make handsewn kimono and her mother was a dress maker out of kimono silk. Watching them work with such passion and dedication inspired young Saki and imprinted in her deep sense of respect for the kimono as an artistic medium. She showed interest in drawing and painting at an early age and started learning oil painting at eight years old. later went on to pursue a degree in painting and graphic design.  After graduating college, she continues to develop her skills and technique as an artist. Having brought a wide variety of unique kimono fabrics inherited from her grandmother, she began experimenting with various ways to incorporate those fabrics into her art. Over the years, she created a truly unique style of kimono collage combined with acrylic paint, gold flakes, gold glitter, and various other media on canvas or wood. Kimono and nature have always been a major inspiration to her and owers, plants, animals and paysages have been frequent motifs in her work.
