Series of Kintsugi

The Kintsugi Series draws inspiration from the Japanese art of kintsugi, a centuries-old practice of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold. This philosophy embraces imperfections as part of an object's history, transforming its cracks into a symbol of resilience and beauty rather than something to conceal.

In this series, I bring the philosophy of kintsugi to my vintage kimono collage art. By incorporating unwearable kimono fabrics, I give these precious materials a new life, celebrating their imperfections and preserving their rich cultural heritage. The gold accents and layered textures in my work echo the essence of kintsugi, turning what was once considered broken or discarded into something whole and beautiful again.

Through this series, I hope to inspire others to see value in the imperfect, the damaged, and the overlooked—reminding us that beauty can often be found in transformation and rebirth.
